Growing Shooting Star in SWFL

Clerodendrum quadriloculare earns its Shooting Star name: the bloom display is clusters of white tubular flowers bursting from deep maroon calyxes — appearing as dozens of shooting stars at once. It blooms in late winter and spring in SWFL, precisely when the estate is being shown to buyers and visitors. Grows to 10–15 feet as a large specimen shrub or small tree. The dark underside of its large leaves creates a dramatic two-tone effect. Spreads by root suckers — give it room or plan to contain it.
