Zone 10b–11. Part shade to full sun (species-dependent — most perform best in filtered sun). High water needs during establishment; moderate once established. Low salt tolerance — interior courtyard and estate garden settings, not direct coastal. Clumping, spreading by rhizomes — space appropriately. Bloom timing and inflorescence form vary by species. Some varieties bloom year-round in SWFL warmth; others are seasonal. Cold-sensitive: dies back below 32°F but typically regrows from rhizomes. Specify variety at order for correct bloom color and growth habit.
